Where Curiosity Takes Root

Plant to acknowledge growth

Our Mission

MORE THAN A PLACE TO PLAY

At GNS, children are recognized as capable, curious learners. Our evolving program combines purposeful play, thoughtful educator guidance and meaningful experiences that encourage children to investigate, solve problems, build relationships and develop practical skills. We create environments where curiosity is taken seriously and learning grows through connection—with others, with ideas and with the natural world.

Curiosity & Discovery

Children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, test ideas and make discoveries through hands-on experiences that grow from their interests and development.

Independence & Growth

Daily routines, meaningful responsibilities and appropriate challenges help children develop independence, resilience and the confidence to try, persist and grow.

Relationships & Belonging

Secure relationships create the foundation for learning. Educators build trust, support communication and help children develop confidence, empathy and a strong sense of belonging.

Rooted In Ontario's Early Years Pedagogy

At GNS, we proudly support “How Does Learning Happen?”, Ontario’s pedagogical framework for early learning. Our curriculum is guided by the Four Foundations essential to a child’s well-being and success:

Belonging – Every child is a valued member of our community.

Well-Being – We promote healthy development and self-care.

Engagement – Children are active, curious, and involved learners.

Expression – Children are encouraged to communicate and be heard.

We are committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment that supports the whole child—emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually.

Nurturing Young Minds in the Heart of Gananoque Since 1971

For more than five decades, GNS has provided children with a welcoming place to build friendships, gain confidence and begin their learning journey. As the needs of local families continue to change, our program is growing too—while remaining rooted in the relationships, community connections and sense of belonging that have always shaped GNS.
